Trusting Your Intuition: The Gift of a Holiday Baby

Updated: Jun 13, 2023

Today is the winter solstice, December 21st, the shortest day of the year and also the first day of winter. Reflection always comes with this time of year, the holidays, family gatherings, food, and merriment for most.

This time of year is always special for me, because I have a holiday baby! Well he’s a grown man now, but he came into this world three weeks early. Even though he was due Jan 12th, I knew, I just knew deep down , that he was going to be born on or near Christmas day. He came into this world on Dec. 24th at 0426 in the morning. I came home later that evening, we were doing well, and I really didn’t want to stay in the hospital for the holidays.

So what was that “thing” I felt? It was my intuition, my gut speaking to me. We all have it, for some it speaks a little more loudly than others. You have the ability to zero in to this “voice”. This intuition is what will guide you through your labor and delivery, and even into parenthood. So trusting your intuition is important part of parenting. I know that when I assist with a birth, I help my clients to find their “voice”, to advocate for themselves, and to “listen” to their gut. To learn to trust their body and intuition during this transformation from one to two, from single to couple, to family. Learn to trust, prepare with practice, and develop your ability to listen to your gut.

Oh! One thing to remember with a holiday baby, make sure they have their own special day and don't combine birthday and Christmas presents! This is my Pro Mom Tip to you! Keep their day separate! Merry Christmas!
